Playground fun.

There a several things in life that I enjoy. My family has always been the best of those things. Growing up no matter what was going on when the family got together it was always a treat (even when there was drama). Once I had children myself that pleasure went to a whole new level. Today I spent some time with one of my daughters and my grandson. Nothing can explain how the joy on a child's face can make you feel. As my daughter chased her son around the play structure I remembered how fun those times are.

Absent

It has been way too long since I have been here. So much has happened over the last few months I haven't been able to sit down and put into words everything. It is amazing that with all that goes on in your own life that if you take the time to stop and look around, and usually not too far from yourself...you will find someone that has gone through just as much if not more. Nowadays I think we are so

Nothing like a 10 year old telling you that because you can text that you are "So this century."

Absence

Wow it has been a while. So much has happened over the last few months. Hard to know where to start. Well let's start at the most recent and go backwards.
I found out tonight that a long time friend had lost her numerous battles with cancer. While talking to her husband tonight I remembered how great that smile of hers was. She was always cheerful and always had a nice things to say.

Tragedy

My daughter called me this evening to just check in and see what I was up to tonight. That's when I first heard about Jonh Travolta's son. My thoughts and prayers go out to John and his wife Kelly. Being a parent myself I cannot imagine what it must be like to lose a child. I have lost cousins and yound friends but losing your child is another kind of pain.
For most of us we take it for granted that those we love will always be safe and sound. I would like anyone that reads this to reach out and let those you love know that you love and appreciate them.

Year End Thoughts

As I sit here this evening I am reflecting back on this year. It has brought me challenges and new comforts.
The picture here is of me by one of the students that I work with at a local high school program. I let her run loose with my camera and it was as if it was christmas or her birthday. Her eyes lit up and she was so surprised when I said yes she could hold it...when I said she could shoot with it you could see the joy. I sit here now and realise that everytime I take a camera into my hands I feel this same way. Each time is the first, and last time that these moments will be captured.
I view this picture and I see the years that I have been fortunate to have lived, and the lives I have touched. I feel privledged to have been the moment that she felt to capture. As a young teen what could she see in a subject as myself? That is the beauty of what we all have inside of us. We each see our world differently and at the same time we co exist with others that we sometimes don't even notice. That is the wonder of capyuring the moments that make up our lives. Looking at the images created tells a story to each viewer. As you go through your day stop and admire the moments that have made your day. The good, the bad, the boring, the exciting...it is what has made you for that day, savior these and taste all that life puts in front of you.
